Our Lady of Kapiti Women's Guild 2017

2018 2017 2016 2015 ---- ----

The Women’s Guild has had another great year. Our regular meetings concluded last Monday, 6th November, with what has become a popular end of year performance from the Kapiti Women’s choir, followed by a scrumptious, festive luncheon!

We’ve had a serious of wonderful speakers and entertainers during the year. The meetings give us time to relax, chat and catch up with one another in a way that is not restricted by time or commitments or restricted to those brief moments before or after Mass.

We have learned so much from the experiences of our various speakers and entertainers during the year.

This year they have included a detailed insight into the structure and art of stained glass windows from Glen McCullough.

In March we were treated to a very reflective and beautiful insight into the L’Arche community just before the opening of their new community residence on the Kapiti Coast from Michelle Ness.

The Cenacle Sisters, Anne Powell, Mary Kay and Kathleen Ryan, shared the spirituality of their order and their foundress St Therese Couderac and their ministry today including a reflection on the joys of living on the Kapiti Coast!

Bev Jay spoke of her exciting experience being part of Margaret Thatcher’s Media team back when she was MP for Finchley and the excitement of the election campaign which Thatcher won in 1979 becoming the first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,

We had our mid-year lunch at ‘The Social’ in Paraparaumu this year. It was very cosy upstairs in our own designated dining room and we had lots of fun and prizes over lunch.

The Coasterettes are an annual booking and they never fail to impress and amaze us with their themed performance, their harmonies and well-polished song and dance routines.

We honour birthdays, we provide hospitality for funerals, we have a sales table and raffle. From our proceeds we have given generous contributions to a variety of organisations in the community and to the Missions overseas.

The committee is dedicated, keen and well-led by Sharyn Pearce. We have come to appreciate the reflections and prayer led by Sister Barbara Henley at the beginning of our meetings.

Come and join us next year! It’s already shaping up to be another great one!
